Collaborative dance piece for children produced with support from the Turner Contemporary (Margate, England) and the University of Michigan-Flint. 

Light Steps is a new production by Akinleye, specially created for children and family audiences. The piece takes inspiration from an exhibition by artist Spencer Finch, The Skies Can’t Keep Their Secret, which was on show at the Turner Contemporary in Margate in 2014. The piece takes young audiences on a magical journey using light and colour as a portal through moments in time. Adesola Akinleye’s work comes to life through dance and live music, with costumes and props designed by US-based sceneographer and costume designer Shelby Newport and live music composed and performed by Jacob Shirley. Characters and objects in the piece are inspired by drawings and dances created with young people during a residency at Bromstone Primary School in Broadstairs.
